  4. Vintage National Reso-phonic 1133 Guitar

1983 Flatiron Mandolin 2K “Pancake” SOLD

    $575.00

    Out of stock

This is a nice 1983 Flatiron 2K mandolin, handmade by Backporch Productions in Bozeman, MT before Gibson bought out the company. It has a spruce top, quilted koa back and sides, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, ebony bridge and nut. The curly koa is truly beautiful, offering amazing 3-D visuals that the included photos don’t fully capture. It still has the original manufacturer and recommended string gauge labels inside the body. This 30+ year old instrument has some minor finish crazing on the top close to the neck, and a few surface scuffs and nicks. It has a professionally repaired crack on the top, which has been cleated and splinted. The repair was done in 1995 by Terry C. McInturff (of McInturff Guitars fame). The frets were professionally replaced by luthier Tony Sullivan around 1997; several of the frets have some play wear, mostly under the A strings, but they have plenty of life left in them. The mandolin has no major structural problems, is in good condition, plays well and sounds great. It comes with a hardshell case. Flatirons are no longer made; get a piece of mandolin history with this sweet instrument. Learn More
